What is Human Trafficking?

According to the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA), human trafficking is any time in which a person performs a commercial; sex or labor act induced by force, fraud, coercion (or) in which the person performing the act is under the age of 18.

The Scope of Human Trafficking

“There is no single profile for human trafficking victims; trafficking occurs to adults and minors in rural, suburban, and urban communities across the country. Victims of human trafficking have diverse socio-economic backgrounds, varied levels of education, and may be documented and undocumented.” – The National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC)
